Before coming to UD, I had never tried hummus. In fact, I was scared of it. So, like the typical college student, I decided to try something new. I was pretty apprehensive at first, but now I am glad that I tried it. Hummus originated in the Middle East, and it is a paste or spread of chickpeas. It is popular amongst those who live in the Mediterranean, and it is a favorite amongst vegetarians. There are different types of hummus, such as original, garlic, or even roasted red pepper. Many people dip pita bread, pretzels, chips, and vegetables in the spread. It's great for an afternoon or late-night snack. To make things even more fabulous, hummus is a pretty healthy snack. You can buy hummus in Stuart's Landing or the Emporium, and I personally recommend the Sabra brand. So the next time you get tried of the same-old lame cafeteria food, try hummus--it really is yummus!
